Tyler DesRoches to seek PC nomination in Summerside-Wilmot

Summerside resident and former City Councillor Tyler DesRoches is seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 21, Summerside-Wilmot.

“My experience in municipal government and with different community groups has given me a good sense of the needs of the people of Summerside-Wilmot. Islanders want a government that is honest, treats people fairly and keeps their hands out of people’s wallets. Those are three things the current isn’t delivering on so I want to be part of a new Dennis King PC government that changes that,” says DesRoches.

A graduate of Three Oaks High School and the University of Prince Edward Island, DesRoches represented Ward 8 (Wilmot) on Summerside City Council from 2014 to 2018, serving as the municipal liaison to the PEI Sports Hall of Fame and chairing the Community Services Committee which oversaw the installation of a solar farm at Credit Union Place and the development of a community splash park.

A volunteer firefighter with the Summerside Fire Department since 2003, DesRoches is active in local sports having served as a minor hockey coach and as past Secretary-Treasurer of the Prince County Horsemen’s Club. DesRoches is also actively involved in the harness racing industry as an owner, trainer and driver.

DesRoches works in the aerospace sector and lives on Read Drive in Summerside with his spouse Jillian and daughter Olivia.

The PC nomination for District 21 Summerside-Wilmot will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at Credit Union Place beginning at 6:30 p.m.
