Convention Location:

Our PC Leadership convention will be held on February 9th, 2019, at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown!

Convention Details:

In an exciting first for Prince Edward Island politics we will be introducing electronic voting as part of the leadership process. This will give more Islanders an opportunity to become engaged and participate and further cement our party’s proud history as a pioneer in interactive democracy.

A campaign spending limit of $25,000 has been set for certified leadership candidates and all candidates will be expected to comply with new provincial election financing rules which came into effect this year.

There is a real sense of excitement in the air, as we have more than 8,000 eligible members who can cast a ballot in our Leadership processAs reported by local media, there are 2,628 expired members who are eligible to renew, and have voting privilege for Leadership 2019.

All individuals in possession of an expired membership are governed under Section 6(2) of the constitution of the Progressive Conservative Association of Prince Edward Island. It states that for renewal of a membership previously held within the past four years, applications may be received and processed up to the time of the Call to Order for a Provincial Leadership Convention. Therefore any membership which are not current and expired prior to January 31, 2015 missed the membership cut-off deadline of January 18th, 2019 at 4:00 pm AST, and are not eligible to vote in this Leadership process.

Thus, memberships which expired after January 31, 2015 are permissible to be renewed in order to be eligible to cast a ballot in this Leadership Convention. The provincial association has compiled a full list of all 2,628 eligible renewal members. To confirm your membership status, please visit PC Office at 30 Pond St, Unit B in Charlottetown, or call (902) 628-8679.

The volunteer Convention Committee has given considerable thought to the issue of accessible voting procedures for these members. We have worked with the supplier who is managing our voting platform to ensure ease of access for voting to individual members while maintaining fairness to all candidates and integrity to the system.
