New Dominion resident Kris Currie is seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 17, New Haven-Rocky Point.

“Like a lot of Islanders I went out west for work when I was younger and now I see too many Islanders struggling to barely get by paycheck to paycheck. I think we need to do a better job of making smart investments that will increase opportunity here for all Islanders,” says Currie.

The rising cost of living for Islanders, youth engagement, a shrinking voice for rural PEI, smarter tax policy and better incentives for sustainable housing and renewable energy development are some of the issues that Currie wants to focus on.  

“Collaboration, common sense and forward thinking will be key to the future of Prince Edward Island. There’s a new energy in our party under PC Leader Dennis King that’s attracting young Islanders like me. I want to be part of a government that engages Islanders about the future and I’m looking forward to getting out there and listening to the concerns of District 17 residents,” says Currie.

A graduate of Bluefield High School and the University of Guelph, Currie is the award-winning Superintendent of Countryview Golf Club in Fairview where he has worked for many years. Currie is active in his community, serving on the board of Golf PEI and is an active fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Association. Currie lives in New Dominion with his wife Jaime and two children, Raylee and Malia.

The PC nomination for District 17 New Haven-Rocky Point will be held on February 18th at the Afton Hall beginning at 6:30 P.M.
