Ernie Hudson to seek re-election in Alberton-Bloomfield

Fortune Cove, PE - Alberton-Bloomfield MLA Ernie Hudson today announced that he is seeking re-election for District 26, Alberton-Bloomfield, in the next provincial election.

“I am proud of the leadership that Premier Dennis King has shown over the last four years and I am honoured to put my name forward to represent the people of Alberton-Bloomfield in a new Dennis King PC government,” says Hudson.

Creation of the Pharmacy Plus program to improve access to care, increase in the number of drugs covered by the provincial prescription drug programs, coverage of the Shingles vaccine for Island seniors, and the building of the new Health Centre are some of the achievements in the area of health care, noted by Hudson. Other accomplishments include doubling the funding for senior’s home repair programs, increasing the availability of senior’s housing, renovations to the Jacques Cartier Arena, the beginning of construction on a new Curling Club and extensive road improvements.

First elected in 2019, Hudson has served as Minister of Social Development and Housing, is currently serving as Minister of Health and Wellness and is Vice-Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Policy and Priorities. Hudson has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Poverty in PEI as well as the Standing Committee on Education and Economic Growth.

“As a government we are tackling long standing challenges that past governments avoided dealing with in health care and housing. A new Dennis King PC government will remain focused on these priorities for Islanders and that’s why I’m running,” says Hudson.

Ernie and his wife Marilyn live in Fortune Cove. They have two adult daughters who live with their husbands in Cascumpec and have four grandsons.
