Barb Broome is the long-time Executive Director of the East Prince Youth Development Centre which provides workforce and skills development programming and supports to Island youth. In that capacity, Broome has presented to the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities in Ottawa regarding youth issues/employment. Broome has developed and delivered many programs that address social issues and employment for youth, persons with disabilities and low income families.


Broome has also been involved with many community projects and boards, including the PEI Community Advisory Committee on Homelessness, the Western PEI Tourism Association, the Tyne Valley Winter Carnival, the Britannia Hall Players, and as a canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Broome also authored a book on the former Mount Pleasant airport and was instrumental in having a monument erected to commemorate the site.


Broome and her husband Louie live in East Bideford and are the parents of three children and grandparents of eight.
